Velocity is speed with a direction. It is defined as the rate of change of displacement with time.

If a car is moving at 60km/h, that is its speed. But if I say it is moving "60km/h towards Ibadan", that is its velocity. In physics equations (like v = u + at), we are almost always talking about velocity, not just speed.
