An eclipse is really just a giant shadow in space.
A Solar Eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Earth and Sun, casting its shadow on us (blocking the sun). A Lunar Eclipse is when the Earth passes between the Sun and Moon, casting our shadow on the Moon (making it look red).
